Schellemolen (mill), Damme

The Schellemolen was built in 1867 on the walls of an old wooden mill. There had been a mill for ages at the same place. Traces go back as far as 1267, when Margaret of Constantinople sold its rights. There is an oil-mill inside the windmill.

Mill of Oostkerke

The brick corn-mill of Oostkerke is built upon a rampart. In the 14th century on this place stood a wooden spindle-mill which belonged to the Lords of Oostkerke. A violent fire destroyed the mill in 1874. Within the same year, a stone mill was built.

The protected monument was restorated in 1970-1973 and in 1988-1991. Now the mill is working as a corn-mill.

Mill of Hoeke

The mill of Hoeke is a stone ground-sheeter, which was pulled up in 1840 on a little, artificial hill.

In 1936 the mill ceased with grinding. In 1981 the mill became a protected monument and came under the government of the Flemish Society. In 2001 they conclude a rent-charge convenant with 'Erfgoed Vlaanderen' to maintain the mill.
