Welcome

DammeDAMME,  THAT'S FLANDERS IN A NUTSHELL, WHERE EVERY STONE TELLS ITS MEDIEVAL STORY AND REFLECTS THE BURGUNDIAN GLORY OF LONG AGO.

The 11.000 people of Damme pride themselves very much with their medieval town, beside the picturesque canal between historic Bruges and wordly Knokke. Vivenkapelle, one of its surrounding polder villages, is a jewel on Flanders' neo gothic crown, while Sijsele invites you to golf. Damme almost has an affair with literature, not only because Jacob van Maerlant lived and worked here, but above all because Damme got known as the birthplace of Till Ulenspiegel, where in 1997 the first Flemish Book-town was installed.

Damme Booktown

Every second Sunday of the month, there is a book market on the Market Square (in winter inside the Town Hall)
